About this research

Shopping has changed. The way people discover products, get recommendations, compare options and make decisions looks very different from even a few years ago. But most of what gets written about how people shop is produced by the platforms and companies that have a stake in the answer.

We want to hear from real people about what actually happens when they are trying to decide what to buy. This research is part of How People Buy Now, an independent annual study into how purchase decisions get made. The findings will be published openly, and everyone who provides their contact details at the end will receive a copy.

Who's this for?

We are looking for a wide range of people and a wide range of purchases. You do not need to be especially online or tech-savvy. The research is initially focused on the UK, but you’re welcome to take part if you live elsewhere. The main thing we're interested in is different ways people research purchases.

Pass it on

Know someone who does not spend much time online or would not describe themselves as particularly tech-savvy? We would especially love to include them in our study. Please send them this link.
